What we do
Counseling
Navigating Germany’s social and healthcare systems can be challenging. For those seeking support, accessing the right resources—ones that truly fit their needs—often feels overwhelming.
Refugees and migrants with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses and their families are often confronted with additional difficulties in the german social system. Specific questions and problems related to asylum law, residence permits, and discrimination arise frequently.
We would like to support you in overcoming these barriers and enforce your rights.
We offer free counseling and support independent from your type of disability, age, origin, language or residence status. Our work is grounded in an anti-discrimination approach, centering the needs and perspectives of our clients.
All concerns brought to us are taken seriously and treated confidentially.
We offer counseling in the following languages – as we work together with volunteers and professional interpreters/language mediators.
Arabic, Chechen, German, English, Farsi, French, Georgian, Kurdish (Sorani), Russian, Turkish, Ukrainian.
We also try to organize language mediators for other languages on request.
We advise on the following topics and questions
- What support and assistance am I entitled to?
- Where and how can I access benefits like care allowance, assistive devices, participation benefits, unemployment support (Job Center), or social welfare assistance?
- I need help contacting offices and authorities. e.g. State Office for Refugee Affairs (LAF), Jobcenter, Social Welfare Office, State Office for Immigration, etc.
- How do I get a disabled person's pass?
- How can I defend myself against decisions made by of authorities?
- I have questions about my asylum procedure and residence options.
If we are unable to deal with your request, we can also refer you to other advice and support services. Get in touch with us via phone oder Mail.
We apologize that there may be waiting times due to high demand. We ask for your understanding.
Here you will find a description of our two counseling projects “Wir sind da!” and “Empowern (Bezirk Mitte)”.
Everyday life support
The family support service FeD-InterAktiv offers low-threshold, intercultural, outreach-based, local, outpatient, and long-term services designed to relieve and support families with disabled relatives.
While families shoulder most of the caregiving responsibilities for their
disabled relatives – including daily support, education, and nursing care – our healthcare system provides multiple relief services to help caregivers manage these everyday challenges.
Our family support service is a service in which volunteers take on certain tasks under the supervision of a professional social worker. For this reason, the realization of our support service primarily requires the recruitment of volunteers. Volunteers must commit to taking part in 35 hours of further training, which is organized by InterAktiv itself.

Events
InterAktiv e.V. regularly hosts informational and recreational events for adults and youth, primarily serving migrants and refugees with disabilities. These gatherings not only provide crucial information about rights and social participation opportunities in Berlin, but also create valuable spaces for connection and networking. Our events are typically multilingual and held in accessible venues.
